Operating much like a turbine flow meter, paddle wheel flow meters consist of a freely rotating wheel which is outfitted with magnets on the blades or “paddles” of the wheel. As the fluid flows through the meter, spinning the wheel, sensors detect the magnets with each pass. The paddle wheel meter generates an electrical frequency output which is proportional to the flow rate.

The easy to install and use Bi-Directional flow meter from LAKE Monitors is variable area, or “piston style” inline flow meter with flow measurements shown right on the meter. Instead of installing two flow meters (one for each flow direction), simply install the LAKE Bi-Directional meter to monitor flow measurements in both directions. Meter sizes start at ¼” and go up to 2” with BSBB, NPT and SAE female threaded port options. Customers can choose from aluminum, brass and stainless steel for their oil and water applications.
